V.2 -- Letters from Antonio Diaz Peña to his mother (September 3-7, 1871) written from St. Helena and Calistoga while vacationing in the area; letter (June 26, 1854) from Butte City, Amador County, Calif., describing California and requesting daguerreotype supplies; letter (January 28, 1862) from Mokelumne River area, describing recent rains and flood; statement of accounts of Kearsing & Son with Peter Harmony & Nephews, New York, 1846-51, with draft of covering letter on p. 4; letter from Mary H. Diaz Peña to her aunt, from Mazatlan, Mexico (November 23 1885) enclosing a letter from U.S. Consul at Guaymas, reporting on the wreck of a steamer, Estado de Sonora, in which her husband, Hernando Diaz Peña, was lost; letters from Harriet Amelia Diaz Peña written from Independence, Mo. (1850) on the way to California, from the Mokelumne River (January 28, 1862) describing rains and flood, from San Francisco (1865-75; extract of a letter from her brother George and additions by her son Antonio included; letter from Mary Ann Weston (Kearsing) describing for her nephews some musical evenings in Jackson.
